Restoration
A couple of centuries ago America was a Christian nation. A sizable number of its citizens were born-again Christians that looked forward to a Christian world. Instead, we saw a Civil War followed by a whole century of wars. Why? Why did we fail so miserably in our good intentions back then? It was because we failed to obey God. Our faith which we thought strong was really very weak. We thought we were obeying God but were not. We were Sunday morning Christians that rested on a very sketchy understanding of God’s Truth. We lacked the in depth understanding of His Word we should have had.
The enemy, Satan saw our great deficiency and used his servant to prepare a fairy story, the Scofield Bible, that took us unprepared and unable to resist. God’s people were so weak that it seemed to them like manna from heaven but actually was poison from the pit of Hell. It promised a very soon end of the world and a rapture that would take up all true believers before a very bad time of judgment came.
A very large number of God’s people were deceived by Scofield’s fairy tale. Scofield’s lies were so very attractive that those that saw through them and objected were pushed aside and ignored. God’s truth was swept aside and replaced by Scofield’s highly tempting lies.
A powerful force behind Scofield was the Dallas Theological Seminary, a cesspool of evil that trained and graduated over ten thousand purveyors of this evil doctrine. These misinformed pastors mistaught God’s people, duping them into believing Satan’s lies instead of God’s truth.
Child of God, have you been caught up in all the turmoil these lies have caused? Have you or anyone close to you been caught in Scofield’s trap? Why have so many been deceived by what should have been seen for what it was, a pack of lies? It was because God’s people were and still are so weak, so ignorant of God’s Word.
They were and still are Sunday morning Christians that just accepted what they were told in church as God’s truth. They didn’t spend the time and effort involved in true Bible study, on their own and with friends and family, They coasted through life without giving God more than just an hour on Sunday.
Is this all the gratitude they display for the huge gift of life, eternal life, God’s gives those that truly believe? Or is it that so many do not have the gift and merely pretend to be in the faith? Doubtless, there are both but the general lack of understanding is very real. Biblically ignorant or false Christians cannot and do not serve God.
The Infinite, eternal, omnipotent, omnipresent God that knows and controls all things has placed the future of this world in the hands of His people. It is our responsibility and will remain so until a future generation arises that obeys His commandments:
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28;19,20)
The Greek word translated “teach” here is “mathetusate” which is better translated “make disciples of”. All the nations are to be made disciples of Christ. This is nothing less than a command to make the world a Christian world. This command is given to all Jesus’ disciples, then and now! It is what we need to be doing today!
